AFFORDABLE PROJECT BASED HOUSING PROGRAM, BERKELEY HOUSING AUTHORITY (BHA)
Did this help?
- Description: Offers two basic types of housing programs to low income residents of Berkeley. Programs provided include:
TENANT-BASED ASSISTANCE OR SECTION 8 HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM: Offers rental subsidies for low income households. Participants find their own place to rent, pay around 30% of income toward rent. The Housing Authority will pay the difference directly to the property owner. Provides Section 8 unit listings on website.
PUBLIC HOUSING ASSISTANCE: Tied to a specific dwelling. The family who lives there will pay an affordable rent, but if they move, they receive no further rental help. The unit then goes to the next income-eligible family who moves in. The rent paid by families is based on household income. - Website: http://www.cityofberkeley.info/bha
