Description: Offers program to divert young adults from the criminal justice system with access to needed services. Provides tailored, collaborative services based on each participants strengths and needs. TAY is a voluntary one year, phased- based program. Services start in juvenile hall then continue in the community under the supervision of a probation officer. Helps earn a dismissal of charges by the criminal court.
Eligibility: The District Attorney and the Defense Attorney/Public Defender's office will identify defendants who have pending cases meeting the eligibility criteria.
The Court will refer case to Probation for suitability report.
. Felonies Only
. No prior Adult criminal convictions
. The defendant is between the ages of
18 and 20 at the time of the offense
and is currently under 24 years of age.
. Defendant does not have to register
pursuant to Penal Code Section 290
. Defendant has not been convicted of
an offense listed under Penal Code
Section 1192.7 and/or 667.5 or
Welfare and Institution Code Section
