Description: Offers a public transit service from curb to curb for people who are unable to use regular buses or trains. The inability to use regular transit must be because of a disability or disabling health condition. Vans are equipped with a wheelchair lift. Service is limited to areas within mile of an operating bus route or BART station.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a Federal Law that prohibits discrimination based on one's disability in regard to employment, public services, and transportation. The ADA guarantees people with disabilities equal access to public transportation. Public transportation providers cannot refuse service to those with disabilities.
Eligibility: Individual qualified under the transportation criteria of the Americans with Disabilities Act which states that they are unable to use public transit without assistance due to a disability.
ADA Requirements:
-Must have a temporary or permanent disability
-An application must be filled out describing their disability or condition that prevents them from using a fixed bus route
Requirements: Healthcare provider signature or proof of health condition by a health care provider for the application
