RENT STABILIZATION BOARD, CITY OF BERKELEY RENT BOARD

Description: Offers information and counseling to landlords and tenants in Berkeley. Services provided including:
- calculating and certifying individual rent ceilings
- conducting administrative hearings and issues decisions on landlord and tenant rent adjustment petitions
- collecting registration fees
- maintaining a database of registered rental units
Also provides mediation for landlords and tenants regarding tenancy issues.

Eligibility: Berkeley tenants and property owners. Owners of rental property covered by the Ordinance are required to register units with the Board. Each residential rental unit in Berkeley is subject to the Rent Stabilization Ordinance unless it falls within one of the enumerated exceptions.
