  • Description:

    Assists Berkeley residents with disabilities and those age 70 or over with access to different transportation services. Those with visual impairments should notify staff of special communication requirements. The programs include:

    Taxi Scrip Program:

    Provides a limited amount of no cost taxi scrip to pay for demand-response taxi transportation. Services are provided to Berkeley senior and disabled residents on conventional taxicabs.

    Wheelchair Van Program:

    Provides a limited no cost van vouchers to senior and disabled Berkeley resident to pay for accessible wheelchair van rides. Wheelchair travelers certified by East Bay Paratransit requiring wheelchair-lift service are eligible regardless of age and income. Rides are provided in an accessible wheelchair van by our community partner, Easy Does It.

    East Bay Paratransit Tickets:

    Provide a limited number of free East Bay Paratransit tickets to individuals certified by East Bay Paratransit.

    High Medical Need Program:

    Provides an additional amount of no cost High Medical Need taxi and accessible wheelchair van rides. Program is open to those who have frequent medically related appointments. Must have at least 2 medically related appointments per month. Medical appointments may include dialysis, physical therapy and cancer treatment.

    GoGo (GG):

    GGG is a call center that arranges rides with Uber and Lyft. BRSD has partnered with GGG to provide no cost Uber/Lyft rides.

    Travel Training Program

    Hosts travel training opportunities at both the North and South Berkeley Senior Centers. The trainings provide information on how to safely and successfully navigate public transportation. These public transportations include AC Transit and BART.


    Please note:
    Offers extended hours for services during Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) and Disasters. Services are available if power is turned off in this facility.

East Bay Paratransit Tickets: Limited to providing transportation services to people who meet criteria established in the Americans with Disabilities Act. High Medical Need Program: Must be an existing Berkeley Rides for Seniors AND the Disabled participant. Eligibility determined based on need.
