CalWORKs is California's version of the Federal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program. CalWORKs offers temporary cash aid assistance, nutrition benefits, employment services and health insurance to eligible families who have children under age 18 or who are graduating before they turn 19, when one or both parents is absent, disabled, deceased or unemployed.

Eligibility: You may be eligible for CalWORKs if you are a low-income or unemployed parent with dependent children (18 or younger) living at home. Certain adults in the program are required to and will be offered supports to look for a job, attend job training, work, or further their education towards entering or re-entering the work force.
