Description: Offers private, confidential, individualized ADULT ESL (English As Second Language) one-to-one instruction. Private tutors teach reading, writing and speaking English. The lesson starts at whatever level the English learner is at and takes consideration of individual goals. Both tutor and student set meeting times convenient for both. Students who are in need of computers, phones and on-line technology may receive assistance in order to enhance the learning process. All learning is completely confidential. Volunteers participate in a training program, commit to volunteer about 1-2 hours/week, must be able to read, write, and speak English well. Literacy Council Produces a newsletter, distributes brochures and has speakers available.
Eligibility: Adult speakers of other languages who are unable to speak, read or write English, or attend adult education. Must have a desire to learn English.
