One critical tool we use to prevent wildfires is the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS), in which we may temporarily shut off power to your neighborhood during dangerous weather conditions to prevent our electric system from becoming a source of ignition. These safety shutoffs are a measure of last resort for keeping you and your community safe.

Self-Certification as a household being significantly affected by PSPS or power disconnection
If a member of the household has a condition that can be significantly affected by the interruption of power during a PSPS event or a disconnection for non-payment of a bill, customers can self-certify their accounts so that SCE is aware.
The self-certification is valid for 90 days. In the event of a disconnection, SCE will attempt to reach customers through their preferred method of contact. If unreachable, a technician will be sent to make in-person contact to deliver the message regarding the disconnection. Click Here
