Description: Provides a support system to elderly and dependent adults who may be subject to neglect, physical abuse or exploitation, or who are unable to protect their own best interests. Conducts timely and thorough investigations to determine the validity of allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Investigates reports made on individuals who live outside of licensed homes or facilities. Offers comprehensive assessments and identification of root causes to achieve a thorough understanding of overall situations. Creates comprehensive service plans which may include referrals to other community agencies and provides preventive and supportive services in an effort to prevent abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation against elderly persons and adults with disabilities.

Eligibility: Seniors or elders who are 60 years of age or older and dependent adults 18-59 years of age. Nevada County APS investigates allegations of abuse and provides assessments and service plans based on need. These services may include referrals to other community agencies.
