  • Description: Provides Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT), locally based mental health treatment, for a small number of individuals referred under W & I Code 5345-5349, otherwise known as Laura's Law. This is a preventative, proactive approach used to assist individuals at increased risk to themselves and the community due to a history of not engaging in needed mental health treatment, who meet specific eligibility requirements.

  • Eligibility: 18 years and over; resides in Nevada County; has a serious mental illness with a history of lack of participation in treatment; this lack of engagement in treatment has 2X been a factor leading to hospitalization or incarceration in the previous 36 months. Or, the mental illness has contributed to a serious threat or act of violence within a period of 48 months. AOT is needed to prevent relapse; the person's condition is at risk of deteriorating and the person would benefit from treatment.
