Class meets at Unity of Auburn, 1212 High Street in Auburn. Braille reading and writing instruction as well as introduction to white cane travel are available. Technology workshops, musical entertainment, pot luck lunches, and field trips are also part of our program.If you are interested or have questions, please call Judy Anderson at 530-863-7773 (During regular business hours).The Center for Visually Impaired Adults serves seniors every Wednesday morning, 10:00a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at: 1212 High Street, Auburn, CA 95603. CVIA provides a program that supports and educates seniors who are visually impaired and/or blind. CVIA invites experts on issues important to seniors and experts on low vision technology. CVIA has a lending library of low tech, low vision aids for participants to borrow. CVIA offers free beginning Braille reading and writing lessons, beginning long white cane safe travel and cooking with low vision lessons. CVIA can also assist participants in connection with other agencies that serve the visually impaired. CVIA has fun with professional entertainers and local field trips on a regular basis. CVIA provides low impact exercises and time to socialize and connect with visually impaired peers. Our All Volunteer staff consists of Retired Teachers, Advocates and a credentialed teacher for the Visually Impaired and Orientation and Mobility Specialist.If you are experiencing vision loss, drop by CVIA and feel the support of your peer group and professionals.
