Description: Telephone Reassurance:Seniors awaiting a friendly visitor are invited to join the telephone reassurance program. Seniors are called weekly by a volunteer to provide contact and socialization.The telephone Reassurance program is currently an alternative option for the Seniors First Friendly Visitor program.Once/if the Friendly Visitors program is initiated again:Seniors First's Friendly Visitor program provides homebound seniors with social visits by screened and trained volunteers. The purpose of this free program is to alleviate the loneliness and isolation which older adults often experience while living alone, or when residing in a rural area with limited access to transportation or social activities.Due to COVID-19: Senior's First's Friendly Visitor Program is closed until further notice.Friendly Visitors provide weekly in-home social visits and also serve as a resource on community services and programs that can help the client retain their independence and remain in their home as long as they choose.VolunteerThere are seniors throughout Placer County who would like a Friendly Visitor. If you have an hour a week you could brighten the life of a home-bound senior.Volunteer and senior matches are based on shared interests, geography, volunteer availability, and personality as much as possible.Friendly Visitors provide: Friendship/Companionship Reminiscence/Life Review Sharing of Available Resources Recreation/Walking/Games/MusicFriendly Visitors DO NOT provide: House Cleaning Furniture Moving Bathing/Manicures or other Personal Care Cooking Laundry Gardening Medication Administration Financial AdviceWho QualifiesSeniors must be 60 and over, homebound (no longer driving), and able to interact socially.For more information, or to request a Friendly Visitor: please call 530-889-9500.----Friendly Visitors is currently closed until further notice due to COVID-19
