Description: TEEN COURT is an innovative diversion program for first-time juvenile offenders who are tried by a jury of their peers. It is a real court of law that is entirely operated by youth volunteers (teen jurors, teen attorneys, clerk, and judge), with an adult mentor judge and attorneys providing guidance. The teen jury focuses on coming up with a restorative sentence that will help the offender to repair harms and learn from their mistake. Participants who successfully complete their Teen Court sentence have their case dismissed and avoid the creation of a criminal record. Teen Courts have succeeded in hundreds of communities across the country because they offer an important educational opportunity for young people to learn about how the justice system works, as well as their rights and responsibilities within that system. Also offers BRIEF INTERVENTION: FOR SUBSTANCE USING ADOLESCENTS. Brief Intervention is a FREE evidence-based psycho-educational tool for early-stage mild or moderate users. It is conducted as a confidential, one-on-one two-part series, with an optional 3rd session which includes interested parent/guardians. The focus of the sessions is to address destructive behavior, talk about good decision making and how to implement positive changes. Please contact us to schedule an appointment.
