• Description: Provides a statewide, toll-free, confidential telephone service for runaway children and their parents, or for any youth who is in a crisis situation and is considering running away. Services for youth include crisis intervention counseling, referrals to resources such as food, shelter, transportation and linkage with agencies providing assistance for pregnancy, drug abuse, physical abuse, rape, suicide prevention, medical treatment or legal aid. Also, relays messages to parents or arranges direct phone contact. Services to parents include phone counseling regarding trouble with a teenager, assistance with locating a child and maintaining a file of messages from parents for runaways.
