Description: All of our departments work closely together to help our families and people thrive as Indian People. AOD Program This department offers drug and substance abuse counseling services, referrals to out patient rehabilitation, organizes events and trips to ceremonies to support sobriety, and makes referrals and communicates to other departments and programs to help clients. Behavioral Health Provides counseling services, referrals, and works with other departments on events and wrap around services. Child Welfare Services Provides services and case aid services to families and foster parent families in and out county and state cases. We also provide numerous services on a voluntary basis to help preserve and strengthen Native families.Indian Child Welfare Committee (ICW)It is the ICW Committees intent to protect the best interests of the child and promote the stability and security of the Karuk Tribe and its Indian families by fully exercising the Tribe's rights and responsibilities under the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) of 1978 and these Policies. The Committee is tasked with reviewing the status of state ICWA cases and to monitor our eligible Karuk children. The committee also participate's in Title IV-B and IV-E Meetings, State ICWA , meetings with other governmental bodies, works closely with housing, tribal court, CASA, and assists with recruitment of prospective foster parents.
