• Description: North Coast EMS serves as the local Emergency Medical Services Agency on behalf of Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake and So. Trinity Counties. The Agency plans, implements and coordinates the EMS system by: approving EMT and Paramedic training programs, establishing pre hospital medical standards, issuing certificates, overseeing quality improvement and administering numerous special projects, such as: Emergency Medical Dispatch Training, Call Box program initiation, EMS for Children services, data collection and analysis and rural vs. urban trauma research. It is an administrative agency responsible for coordinating and improving the EMS system. Their ultimate goal is to work with those directly involved with medical response to reduce death and disability.
