SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME (SSI), SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION

Did this help?

  • Description: Supplemental Security Income, (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are 65 or older, are blind or disabled, and who meet income requirements. SSI is a federal program paid for out of General Revenue. California supplements SSI payments out of the state's general Revenue. It's recommended that anyone with little income or resources call Social Security to get more detailed information. Not all income and/or resources count. Different payment amounts are available depending on living circumstances, and changes occur frequently. It's recommended that a person file as quickly as possible, because the date the application is received becomes the first day of eligibility for payment.
