Description: Burn Ban Has Been Lifted CAL FIRE Humboldt-Del Norte Unit has issued a statement to local fire authorities that burning debris can now start again. After having a good portion of rain, CAL FIRE has lifted the ban, but permits are still required. Please remember that when burning, keep your pile within the specifications of your permit, make sure that there is no structures or flammable materials near by, make sure that you as the burner are armed with a hose line and a hand tool, and lastly make sure that everyone stays safe around the burn pile. The Samoa Peninsula Fire District also asks that if you are going to be burning on your property, please call the station ahead of time, at (707) 443-9042, to inform them. This will provide them with a notice that if a smoke check is dispatched to your residence or some one calls the station with concerns, they can direct them accordingly. If you have any questions regarding burning or would even like the fire department to come make sure you are doing it safely, do not hesitate to call. Campfire Information The Samoa Peninsula is a great place to go to the beach and have bonfires with friends and family, but there are rules that need to be followed on the beach to assure your safety and the resident's of the peninsula safety. If you would like to have bonfires on the beach please follow the rules listed below: Fires must not be larger than a 3 foot by 3 foot area Fires must be on beach, away from vegetation, below high tide mark No pallets No burning of trash (including bottles and cans) No fireworks Please do your part and keep the beachs clear of trash and debris after use.
