  • Description: The family shelter is a long-term shelter program for adults with children, helping families transition out of homelessness. With four buildings located throughout Arcata, families live in communal housing facilities with private rooms and shared common areas. Combined, the family shelters can serve around 40 people, or 10 families. Clients meet with a case manager to identify and remedy barriers to housing, receive help applying for services, and gain life skills education such as budgeting or nutrition education. Case managers also assist clients in securing independent living.
