  • Description: General Information The College of the Redwoods Dental Health Center provides reduced cost dental services performed by a licensed dentist and registered dental hygienist being assisted by students enrolled in the Dental Assisting Program. Our services are available to the community; we do however give priority to students and staff of the College of the Redwoods. We do not provide emergency care and appointments are required. While we provide quality dental care, the Dental Health Center is an educational setting and our primary responsibility is to ensure that our student's educational requirements are met. Patients receiving dental care are participating in the teaching program. Because this is a teaching environment appointments generally take longer than at a private office. Services Offered Services offered include: Preventative - exams, x-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments and sealants Restorative - fillings (composite/resin and amalgam), crowns (porcelain/gold, bridges (porcelain/gold) Prosthodontics - full dentures and partial dentures Complex or extensive dental treatment is beyond our scope of service. Only patients whose dental, medical condition and complexity are suitable for teaching purposes will be accepted for treatment. The Dental Health Center does not perform extractions or root canal therapy. We reserve the right to refuse to render specific treatment if it does not meet the prevailing standard of dental care. Application to Become a Patient All patients require a new patient exam, an initial comprehensive dental examination that includes a record of your medical and dental history and complete radiographs (x-rays). At this exam it will be determined if your dental care needs can be met at our clinic. Patients whose treatment can not be provided at our clinic will be given a referral to an appropriate provider. Radiographs (X-Rays) Dental radiographs will be taken as necessary and appropriate for examinations, diagnosis, consults and treatment. If you have current (taken within the past fourteen months), diagnostic quality radiographs your may submit them, however we may need to take additional radiographs and charge the appropriate fee. Financial Responsibility Patients will be charged for treatment according to the current fee schedule in effect. A fee estimate will be provided prior to beginning treatment. However, some proposed treatments and plans require modification once treatment begins. Full payment is due at the time of service. We do not accept health insurance or MediCal. We accept cash, checks, or Visa, MasterCard and Discover.
