CHILD WELFARE SERVICES (CWS), HUMBOLDT COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES -SOCIAL SERVICES BRANCH
Did this help?
- Description: Humboldt County Child Welfare Services (CWS) investigates allegations of abuse/neglect, offers voluntary services when appropriate to enable families to overcome the problems which led to intervention. When the child cannot be safely maintained in his/her own home, CWS initiates petitions in Juvenile Court, and under jurisdiction of the Court, provides services to reunite the child with the family. Services range from foster care, to counseling, to drug-alcohol treatment, to parenting classes. If the child cannot be safely returned to the home, CWS works with the Court to develop a permanent plan, such as adoption.
