  • Description: Reclaiming Independence, Dignity & Employment...Together!The City of Eureka community services program, UPLIFT Eureka, created to guide the houseless population in accessing vital community resources to obtain housing and employment.By uplifting one individual in need, together we can benefit & strengthen our entire community.Employment workshops, including resume building, will be held every Tuesday at 10:00 am and a tutorial on Interview Tips and Tricks takes place Thursday mornings at 10:00 am.Housing workshops, which are designed to assist in navigating housing searches, take place weekly on Wednesdays at 10:30 am. Participants who attend all four sessions will be awarded a certificate of completion from the City of Eureka to attach to all housing applications. Please see the calendar and flyers attached for additional info.Below is an overview of C.A.P.E. and Uplift Eureka's currently operating programs:The Community Access Project for Eureka (C.A.P.E.) is a division within the City of Eureka's Finance Department that provides access to resources and quality of life programs and opportunities for all members of our community regardless of their living situation or income.Serving youth in need is a primary mission of C.A.P.E. Currently, the Birthday Wishes Program is being offered to children referred by local shelters. Family summer programming, run in partnership with Humboldt Waterkeeper, is on the horizon next. Stay tuned for details in next month's newsletter! C.A.P.E. was recently awarded a Humboldt Sponsors grant to offer diapers and wipes at the Uplift Eureka Resource Center to families in special circumstances. Program details will be posted on social media in the coming weeks. If you notice other service gaps in community youth programming, please let us know! We are always looking for ideas to develop new programming in an effort to serve the needs of our community.C.A.P.E.'s next Pathway to Payday Employment Workshop Series for community members seeking employment will take place May 5th-8th, 9am-12pm each day at the Betty Chinn Day Center. Participants must apply in advance, and space in the program is limited so individuals interested in participating are encouraged to apply asap. Please note that participants must be able to attend all four days of the program, and must have a completed resume by the first day of the program (Resource Center staff can assist with resume creation and polishing).Uplift Eureka is a key program within C.A.P.E that supports community members experiencing homelessness with accessing vital community services and resources. Uplift's Housing Assistance Program and Community Resource Center fall under the Uplift umbrella.Uplift's Housing Assistance Program currently operating a Rapid Rehousing Program. Eligibility requirements include meeting the HUD Category 1 definition of homelessness. When program openings become available, individuals are prioritized based on need and vulnerability.
