Provides temporary financial assistance including help with rent, groceries, and toiletries. Offers travel assistance for returning to a former place of residence. Requires employable recipients to seek work and repay loans.

Eligibility: Merced County residents (age 18 and older) or emancipated minors without dependent children and experiencing unemployment
General Assistance is available for individuals that need financial assistance, but do not meet CalWORKs deprivation needs and do not have a child in the home.
Requirements: Social Security Number, photo identification, proof of address, proof of income, proof of citizenship or immigration status
