Description: Provides childcare and preschool centers throughout Shasta, Siskiyou and Trinity County. Head Start serves children ages 3 to 5 and their families. Early Head Start serves pregnant women, children up to age 3, and their families. Offers school readiness, health screenings, parent engagement, nutritious meals, and mental health services.Provides a Home-based program for children up to 3 years old and pregnant women. A staff member visits the home once a week. Reviews child development, parenting techniques, and nutrition. Includes socialization via play groups with other families.Offers parenting classes which include the following: Encouraging self-care Stress and anger management Understanding child development Communication skills Positive discipline.Provides Parent Cafs. These offer safe spaces for parents or caregivers to share experiences and ideas. Focuses on the Strengthening Families Program and Protective Factors.
Eligibility: Based on child's age (birth to 5) and family's level of income; priority is given to children who are homeless, in foster care, or who have special needs
