  • Description: Provides affordable long-term care for veterans (ages 55+) and veterans with disabilities. Also serves their eligible spouses and domestic partners. The Redding Veterans Home is one of eight facilities across the state. Services include:Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) 24/7 skilled nursing care for veterans with significant clinical needs Memory care units supporting veterans with dementia, memory loss, or other cognitive impairments.CalVet staff create an environment that honors veterans' service to our country. The Veterans Homes are nationally recognized for their premier care and services. Residents engage in a wide range of social activities including: Social and community eventsScenic drives to local lakes, Lassen National Park, and other local landmarks Music and dance performances Tai chi, hand jive, and fitness classesArts and craftsCard games and puzzlesCooking classes Computer access Shopping trips.Tours are available.   • Eligibility: -Open to veterans ages 55 and up, veterans with disabilities of any age, and homeless veterans-Must have served in the United States Armed Forces and discharged or released from active duty under conditions other than dishonorable and be eligible for health care benefits, hospitalization or domiciliary care in a veterans' facility in accordance with the rules and regulations of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs-Non-veteran spouse or domestic partner must meet qualifications-Must be a California resident.-Must be able to live with and get along with other people in a structured communal environment.-As a condition of entering and to continue to reside in a Veterans Home, the applicant/member shall:o Obtain and maintain Medicare A, B, and D enrollment, if eligibleo Obtain and maintain Medi-Cal enrollment, if eligibleo If not eligible for Medicare and Medi-Cal, the applicant/member must obtain and maintain other basic medical insurance policy/policies as required by Military and Veterans Code 1033(c)o Obtain and maintain United States Department of Veterans affairs health care program enrollment, if eligible
