Description: Provides Public Guardian, Conservator, and Public Administrator services in Siskiyou County.Public Guardian/Conservator (PG/PC): Protects and cares for those unable to provide for personal or financial needs alone. Works to ensure people can live safely through a process called "conservatorship." Provides support with housing, hospitalization, medical care, and psychiatric treatment. Public Guardian acts as a conservator when no other conservator is available.Public Administrator (PA): Administers the estates of persons who die with no will or without an administrator. The PA's primary duties are to: Protect the decedent's property from waste, loss or theft Make appropriate burial arrangements Conduct thorough investigations to discover all assets Liquidate assets at public sale or distribute assets to heirs Pay the decedent's bills and taxes Locate persons entitled to inherit from the estate.
Eligibility: -For guardianship or conservatorship, need referral from Adult Protective Services or Behavioral Health Division-For a deceased individual with no will or without an eligible person to act as administrator, need referral from the Sheriff/Coroner, funeral home, or Public Guardian/Conservator
