Description: Trains and licenses Resource Families to care for children who are: Dependents of the court Wards of the Juvenile Justice System Voluntarily placed by their parents.The commitment ranges from a few weeks to several months or more. Sibling groups are kept together whenever possible. Resource Families receive money to help pay for the child's living expenses. Medi-Cal covers medical care. Provides training and support.Resource Families/Foster Parenting choices include: Temporary foster care: For children who need a safe and loving place to live while they are waiting to either return home or be adopted Kinship care: For relatives and non-relative extended family members caring for a child Adoption: For foster children who are in need of adoptive homes Respite care: Providing short-term respite care for other foster/resource families who need a break.
Eligibility: -Adults over the age of 18 may apply including families with children, childless couples, single people, and retirees-Prospective parents and homes are carefully screened through a process of interviews, home visits, and background checks
