• Description: Provides preschool and childcare centers for children ages 3 to 5 and their families. Offered throughout Shasta, Siskiyou and Trinity Counties. Early Head Start supports pregnant women, infants, children up to age 3, and their families. Offers the following: School readinessHealth screeningsParent engagementNutritious mealsMental health services.Home-based program serves pregnant women and children up to age 3. A home visitor visits the home once a week. Helps support child development, parenting strategies, and nutrition. Families are also invited to play groups with other families. Provides opportunity for children and parents to connect, learn, and build friendships with peers. Parenting classes offered and includes the following topics: Self-careStress and anger management Child development Communication skills Positive discipline.Parent Cafs offer safe, supportive spaces for parents or caregivers to share experiences and ideas. Guided by Strengthening Families Approach and Protective Factors framework.
