Description: El Proyecto del Barrio offers The Youth Advocacy Program (YAP) which is a 15 week group counseling class that is provided to at-risk and/or first-time offending juveniles. Clients may be self-referred or referred through the LAPD following an arrest. This may fulfill aspects of the probation requirements set forth. Participants must be between the ages of 10 and 17. Counseling curriculum includes such topics as anger management, alcohol and drug abuse, health education, family systems, personal reflection and emotional expression, decisions, goal and consequences, guest speakers, and individual assessment and referral to the City's Youth Opportunities Program for employment opportunities.
