Description: Provides vocational rehabilitation services to persons who are deaf, hard of hearing, late deafened, and deaf-blind. Secondary services include: Deaf culture and awareness Communication techniques Assistive listening devices and other rehabilitation technology Interpreter services Referrals and assistance to obtain services from specialized agencies Specialized vocational and other training services Audiological and hearing aid assessments Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for communication accessibility Resources for individuals who are hard of hearing and late deafened
Eligibility: - Must have a physical or mental disability, Disability must prevent an individual from working, Must need vocational rehabilitation services to help find a job, Must want to work
Requirements: Records about disability; Hearing test; Paperwork from the Social Security Office, such as Medi-Cal or related letters (if applicable); Names of doctors, schools, and colleges, with addresses and phone numbers (If individual does not have any of these documents, they can fill out a form that allows the local office to contact and get information from the individual's doctor); Other medical documentation may be requested
