  • Description: Provides a one-time grant to qualified homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage or property tax payments. The grants help homeowners who had a financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic by covering missing mortgage or property tax payments. Assistance provided through this program is not a loan and does not need to be paid back. Mortgage assistance grants are directly tied to the past due amount the homeowner owes their lender. Up to $80,000 in assistance can be provided per household for mortgage relief, and up to $20,000 for property tax relief.

  • Eligibility: - 18 years and older; All applicants must meet the following requirements: Household income of all household members 18 years and older must be at or below 150% of the county's Area Median Income (Please visit the website); Must own a single-family home, condo, or permanently manufactured home in California; Must have experienced a pandemic-related financial hardship after January 21, 2020, due to either a loss of income or increase in household expenses; Mortgage assistance requirements: Homeowner must have missed two or more mortgage payments before June 30, 2022, and are currently delinquent; Must be past due amount must be $80,000 or less at the time of application; Property tax assistance requirements (if paid directly to the county tax collector): Must have missed a property tax payments before May 31, 2022; The program is open to homeowners even if they have received government assistance from other COVID-19 programs (CARES Act, Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 or the American Rescue Plan act); Homeowners who are behind on payments by more than $80,000 at the time they submit their application would not be eligible for assistance; Applicants are not asked to provide any citizenship information throughout the application process
