Financial assistance is offered in the areas of: Emergency temporary rental assistance Hotel expense reimbursement Necessary home repair assistance for disaster-caused damage Home replacement assistance Permanent or semi-permanent housing contruction Other needs such as child care, medical, dental, funeral, burial, personal property, fuel for a heat source, clean-up items, transportation, moving and storage, and other expenses that are authorized by lawA disaster must be declared by the President for the affected area (state and county). The declaration often takes time, so disaster survivors are encouraged to seek out local resources until the federal disaster declaration occurs.
