  • Description: Works with law enforcement personnel to provide on-scene emotional crisis support. Provides families with immediate practical guidance, and valuable resources of what happens next, after their loss. In crises, chaplains can provide the following services: Critical incident stress management Search and rescue assistance in the field Evacuation scene support Reunification center assistance School crisis intervention Active-Shooter disaster reunification Family Assistance Center Management Town Hall meeting coordination following a tragedy and /or disaster. Follow-up services to families Referrals to community-based resources and organizations Funeral planning and officiating Connecting families to faith communities when requested Spiritual guidance and prayer support when requested Post-traumatic events debrief and counseling Home and hospital visitation Graduation and promotional ceremony assistance Invocations for the public square Line-of-duty death funeral planning and officiating Disaster response teamsPolice officers, citizens, or clergy may request the services of a chaplain. Sacramento area ministers serve as volunteer chaplains who are crisis intervention specialists.
