• Description: A free referral service designed to connect IHSS recipients with specially screened caregivers who provide in-home assistance to low-income elderly, blind, or disabled individuals, including children, to help them remain safely in their homes.Public Authority services include: Provider Enrollment - Public Authority helps IHSS recipients by facilitating provider orientation and managing the enrollment process for new and inactive IHSS providers. Provider Registry - The Sacramento County IHSS Caregiver Registry is a database of specially screened caregivers who are looking to work for IHSS recipients/consumers. Please note, all IHSS providers are not part of the Caregiver Registry. The Registry has an application process separate from Provider Enrollment. Provider and Recipient Education - The In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Public Authority offers a variety of free classes.Public Authority works closely with Sacramento County IHSS, but is a separate entity. The IHSS Advisory Committee is a citizen body comprised of eleven members who are appointed by the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors. The Committee's responsibility is to advise the Board of Supervisors, the Public Authority, Department of Child, Family and Adults Services and other involved agencies about IHSS and make recommendations to improve services.

• Requirements: In addition to the online registration, providers will need to complete a mandatory fingerprint background check (This process is also referred to as DOJ, Live ???Scan, and fingerprinting). You will need to use the DOJ form specific to Public Authority. Do not use any other DOJ form.
