  • Description: The Work Release Division is Sacramento County's alternative sentencing program for inmates. It allows qualified inmates to serve their sentences on electronically monitored Home Detention, or by participating in community work projects. This alternative to incarceration allows the inmates to maintain employment and family relationships.Programs include: Alternative Sentencing Program (ASP): provides an opportunity for people to work community service hours in lieu of paying fines. Click here for the ASP online application form. Home Detention: allows qualified inmates to serve their sentences at home while being electronically monitored. Sheriff's Work Project: inmate labor provided to groups such as school and park districts, churches, civic groups, government agencies, and non-profit organizations.The Work Release Division also manages the following programs: Child Support Revenue Recovery Detail: enforcement and investigative duties to encourage the payment of child support. Power Program: helps offenders reintegrate into the community by offering educational and pre-vocational employment training to offenders in a non-custodial setting. Sheriff's Toy Project: staffed by work project inmates supervised by deputy sheriffs and provides a connection between law enforcement, people in need, and those in the community capable of giving.The Strategies for Success publication has reentry resources and information.
