Description: Provides law enforcement and policing services to the City of Galt. The department is divided into four divisions. Administration Division - Responsible for the management and coordination of all police services provided by the Department. Field Operations Division (Patrol) - Provides uniformed patrol, traffic enforcement programs as well as crime prevention and analysis. These services include a wide variety of functions including responding to life-threatening and in-progress criminal activity, addressing quality of life issues in neighborhoods, performing peacekeeping activities such as mediating disputes, and acting as a problem-solving resource. Operations is also responsible for traffic safety and enforcement. Detectives/Investigations Division - Responsible for the investigation and follow-up of crimes and criminal activity. Members of this unit have special training in handling specific crimes such as child abuse, sexual assault, juvenile crime, narcotic enforcement, gangs, property, fraud, identity theft, etc. Communications and Records Division - Responsible for operating a 24-7 communications center that handles all routine and emergency 9-1-1 calls for service, they process all police reports, criminal complaints, subpoena service, state and federal reports, and other miscellaneous related items.
Hours: Emergency and Non-Emergency Lines: Seven Days a week, 24-hours;Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm
