• Description: Stipend volunteer service opportunities for low-income people ages 55 years+ to provide person-to-person services to children with special needs in health, education, welfare, probation, and related settings. Foster Grandparents provide friendship, love, and a sense of identity to children with special needs by encouraging trust, giving warmth and support, and helping children to learn age-appropriate skills.Volunteers serve 15 hours per week and receive an hourly non-taxable stipend, training, transportation reimbursement, and other benefits. Must be capable of serving children with special needs on a person-to-person and regular basis. Foster Grandparents serve in schools, Juvenile Hall, and Headstart/Preschool programs.
