  • Description: Places CalWORKs Welfare to Work participants in non-paid work experience with public, private non-profit, or private for-profit businesses. The goal of the program is for participants to learn valuable on-the-job skills and move into paid employment with the sponsoring business or into paid employment elsewhere. CWEX also has an internal mechanism to connect participants to subsidized or unsubsidized employment while in placement.For employers: At no cost to the employer, this program includes both voluntary and involuntary CalWORKs participants who are screened and assigned to participating employers to develop and or enhance work skills.
