• Description: Placer Rides, a transportation assistance program, is co-managed by the Western Placer Consolidated Transportation Services Agency (WPCTSA) and Seniors First. Eligible riders receive per-mile reimbursement for transportation provided by their volunteer drivers using private vehicles. Riders are expected to recruit their own drivers and coordinate their rides. Neighbors, friends, acquaintances, and caregivers all make great drivers.

• Eligibility: To be eligible for Placer Rides, individuals must fit several eligibility criteria. Eligible program recipients must be: 1. A Resident of Placer County 2. Seniors (60+), individuals with disabilities, or those with low income 3. Unable to drive themselves 4. Having difficulty utilizing other forms of public transit due to: . Lack of available service at home or destination . Inability to pay for public transportation . Difficulty utilizing fixed route transitIf an eligible rider has another means of transportation to and from a destination, include utilizing public transportation, that trip is not eligible for reimbursement through Placer Rides. If an eligible rider has no other means, trip purposes eligible for reimbursement include: . All non-emergency medical trips include clinical, dental, vision, preventative screenings, mental health, addiction treatment, dialysis, chemotherapy, radiation, and physical therapy . Essential errands including food and basic goods shopping, pharmacy trips, correctional and rehabilitation appointments, and government assistance appointments . Trips to the bus stop, train station, or airport to make connections for a listed eligible purpose . Trips determined to be eligible on a case-by-case basis by WPCTSA and Seniors First staffPlacer Rides riders are eligible to receive reimbursement for up to 200 miles per month. There is no maximum for individual trips. If riders request reimbursement for more than 200 miles, they will only be reimbursed for the first 200 miles.
