  • Description: Provides free services to help remove disabled/stranded vehicles on the freeway. Tow trucks patrol designated freeway routes Monday through Friday during peak commute hours. Tow trucks also patrol all day in pre-designated freeway construction zones. The trucks patrolling are able to provide the following to stranded vehicles:
    • A gallon of gas
    • "Jump start" a car if the battery is dead
    • Refill radiator and tape hoses
    • Change a flat tire
    Please note that the tow trucks are not able to tow vehicles to private repair shops or residences. If FSP cannot get your car going, it will be towed free of charge to a location approved by the CHP. The FSP will also help connect individuals with further assistance. The CHP will notify an auto club or towing service.
