Description: Enforces California's two Civil Rights statutes protecting against hate crimes. Protects against intimidation or interference with state or federal statutory or constitutional rights.

Hate crime describes various crimes of violence against a person motivated by prejudice. They include violence and damage of properties. Targeted categories of identities include race, religion, ancestry, national origin, disability, gender or sexual orientation.

Steps if you are a victim of a hate crime:
- Call the police immediately
- Seek medical attention, if necessary
- Document the exact words spoken to you by the criminal, as soon as practical
- Photograph property damages, if applicable
- Saves evidence for criminal prosecution
