Description:
Provides a workforce development program for youth and young adults in Santa Clara County. Helps youth who are living on low-incomes and experiencing barriers that impact their educational or career goals. Offers participants the opportunity to explore careers, develop skills, and gain work-related opportunities. Services include:
Access to a paid work experience or internship
Resume and cover letter writing
Job research and application support
Interview skills and practice
Career exploration and planning
Job readiness workshops
Educational path planning and assistance in school enrollment (trade school, college, etc.)
Navigating FAFSA and financial aid/scholarships
Academic support, including GED completion/alternative secondary school and class counseling
Eligibility: Must meet the following criteria:
-Low-income youth between the ages of 16-21
-Living in the San Jose, San Martin, Morgan Hill, or Gilroy area
-Must have a work authorization.
-Enrolled in school (high school, alternative school, trade school, college, etc.)
-Receiving any form of public assistance (Cal-Works, CalFresh, Medi-Cal, Refugee Cash
Assistance, etc.)
-Living in a low-resource census tract area, or living below the Lower Living
Standard Income Level for San Jose
