Provides free and unbiased help with insurance issues. Including Medicare, Medical, HMO's, and longterm care insurance.
Individual counseling includes:
- Rights as a Medicare beneficiary - Understanding Medicare benefits - Understanding long-term care options - Evaluating options to supplement Medicare - Understanding medicare savings programs - Review and appeal assistance of claim denials - Provider communication and coordination of benefits
HICAP counselors will not:
- Sell any product - Charge for any service - Make any decisions for the individual
And one of the following:
- Current Medicare beneficiary
- Representatives of Medicare beneficiaries
- Individuals needing information on long term care insurance
- Adults (age 18-65) with disabilities and other special needs
- Individuals (age 65 or older) who are eligible for Medicare or are planning for retirement
