MEDI-CAL ACCESS PROGRAM (MCAP), CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH CARE SERVICES (DHCS)

Description: Provides pregnant women with medical coverage for a low cost with no co-payments or deductibles for its covered services. Coverage includes vision, dental, as well as substance abuse treatment services. Their newborns may be covered for up to two years. Also available to women who have other health insurance plans that:
- Do not cover maternity services
- Maternity-only deductible
- Copayment greater than $500

-Be a California resident
-Be pregnant when applying
-Within the income limits of the program
-Not insured by no-cost Medi-Cal
-Not insured by Medicare Part A and Part B benefits when you apply
-Not insured by private insurance (unless you have maternity only
deductible or co-payment of more than $500)
