Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) - Provides cash assistance to refugees during the first 12 months of residence in the US. Also covers asylees for up to 12 months after asylum is granted. Refugees must first apply for CalWORKs. If eligible, benefits will be paid out under that program instead.
Trafficking and Crime Victims Assistance Program (TCVAP) - Provides aid to non-citizen victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and other crimes. Services include cash assistance, food benefits, employment, and social services.
Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI) - Provides cash assistance to legal immigrants who are seniors, blind, or disabled. Participants may be eligible for Medi-Cal, CalFresh, and In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS). For more information, including income standards, visit the California Department of Social Services.
Eligibility: Open to refugees, asylees, Cuban/Haitian entrants, certain humanitarian parolees, Special Immigrant Visa holders, and Amerasians
RCA:
- Must be a refugee or asylee currently residing in San Benito County
- Must be within the first 12 months of residence in the US, or within 12 months of being granted asylum
- Must be denied eligibility for CalWORKs
TCVAP:
- Open to non-citizen victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, or other serious crimes who reside in San Benito County
CAPI:
- Must be a legal immigrant who is either over the age of 65, blind, or disabled
- Must reside in San Benito County
- Must be ineligible for SSI/SSP solely due to immigration status
- Must meet CAPI income standards (varies; in general, countable income must be less than $2,000 for individuals, or $3,000 for couples)
