Description: Program helps participants build literacy skills in reading and writing. Volunteer-led tutoring is offered to adults in both one-on-one and small group settings. Service includes a literacy assessment and referral services.
Also offers English Conversation Circle Classes and Community Outreach English classes for non-native English speakers. Services are provided at the Santa Rosa Central Library for ESL students.
Eligibility: Adults 18 years and older, Native English speakers with low literacy skills and reading level below 6th grade OR Non-native English speakers who already have a solid foundation in speaking and understanding English.
All students must possess the ability to manage their program and tutoring communication as well as scheduling needs independently and directly with both the literacy office and a tutor.
Adults wishing to practice their Conversational English Skills are eligible to attend the weekly English Conversation Circles at the Santa Rosa Central Library or to receive referral information to ESL programs through the Adult Literacy Office.
