- Description: Region IX (Traditional) Head Start is a half-day program following the normal school year for children 3-5 years of age. Head Start has recently inaugurated four classes in the Hanford area that serve working parents with all-day child care in collaboration with Child Development Services. Services are also offered to meet the needs of the children with disabilities.

- Eligibility: The child must be a resident of Kings County and 3 years old by September 1st. Children that meet or are below the Federal Poverty guidelines and are 4 years of age are given first priority.
- Requirements: The application must contain Birth Certificate, Medical Insurance card, immunization record, proof of income, and proof of address.
