Description: The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) provides financial assistance to eligible Tulare County residents with a one-time water bill payment. LIHWAP, funded by the State of California's Community Services and Development department, can help pay your past-due water or wastewater bill. You must be a Tulare County resident, show your ID and overdue bill and live in one of the participating communities. LIHWAP is constantly expanding the list of water districts that are part of the program.Participating utility companies: City of Porterville City of Tulare City of Exeter City of Lindsay City of Farmersville City of Dinuba California Water Service Utility Management Services Strathmore OUD
Requirements: To qualify for the program, residents must not exceed the income guidelines. Eligibility is based on income guidelines and important verification documents, including:Be a Tulare County Resident.Must provide a government identification(ID). Provide all pages of the most current water and/or water waste bill, the bill must be current within 6 weeks of the date you apply.Water and/or water waste bill must have a past due balance.Provide proof of CalFresh/CalWORKs (if it applies).Household IncomeProvide proof of household income(Proof of gross monthly income from all sources in the household must be provided and must be current within 6 weeks of the day you apply)
