- Description:
Provides advocates during the process of determining if a child with academic difficulties has a disability. Advocates use a non-adversarial approach that helps parents work effectively with school personnel. Goal is to plan meaningful and educational programs for their children with disabilities ages 2-22.
Also helps parents trying to navigate the complex special education system. This includes explaining the testing and assessment procedures, eligibility, placement and may attend IEP meetings and other education related meetings.
