  • Description: Assists consumers with health care issues and ensures that managed care patients receive the medical care and services to which they are entitled.Grievance/Complaint Process:Before filing an Independent Medical Review (IMR)/Complaint with the DMHC, individuals are first required to File a Grievance/Complaint with Their Health Plan.If an individual's issue has not been resolved, or if are not satisfied with their health plan's decision, they can contact the Help Center at the Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC). An urgent problem is a serious threat to someone's health. Consumers can also file a complaint if their HMO does not make a decision within 30 days.
